Yungang Grottoes and Hanging Temple / Three-day trip

One of China's four most famous "Buddhist Grottoes", Yungang Buddhist Grottoes are 16 kilometers west of Datong. 53 caves are cut into the southern cliffs of Wuzhou Hill which contain over 50000 magnificently carved Buddist statues.
Hanging Temple is a wooden construction supported by a few wooden posts, leaning over the sheer cliffs above Golden Dragon Canyon. The Hanging Temple dates back to the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534 AD). Its halls and pavilions are connected by verandas, bridges and boardwalks.

  • Day-by-day Itinerary:

    Day 1 Beijing/Datong(by train)
    Take the overnight train K605 (23:36-06:21), 1133 (23:03-05:17) or 2603(23:47-07:01) from Beijing to Datong, the famous coal mining town.

    Day 2 Datong(B+L)
    Your local tour guide will meet you at the railway station and take you out for breakfast. After breakfast we will leave for Yunguan Grottoes and Hanging Temple. We will return to the downtown of Datong at approx. 4:30 pm for the Nine-Dragon Wall, Huayan Temple, Drum Tower and some old streets. Dinner is on your own, your guide and driver are ready to give you recommendation of a good restaurant for dinner and send you there. Take the overnight train K606 (22:59-05:10) or 2604 (20:46-04:27) back to Beijing.

    Day 3 Beijing
    Back to Beijing in the morning.

    • TOUR COST (Group tour, minimum 2 in a group):
              RMB1350/person or USD193/pax(hard sleeper)

              RMB1470/person or USD210/pax (soft sleeper)

    INCLUDING: Entrance fees, breakfast and lunch in Datong, transportation in Datong, English-speaking tour guide, return train ticket, travel liability insurance.

    EXCLUDING: Dinner, individual travel insurance, tips, any personal expenses such as hotel laundry service, telephone and fax charges, optional visits and entertainments.

    Note:
    •  As the exchange rate of RMB to USD is flexible, we reserve the right to change the quote in USD according to the exchange rate on the date you pay the tour.
    •  If you have 6 or more signed up together, the tour cost will be RMB90/pax or USD13/pax cheaper. Meanwhile, if you sign up with less than six persons together, you are supposed to travel with other tourists departure on the same date if there are.
    •  We reserve to right to choose the train according to the seat. We couldn¡¯t promise the soft or hard sleeper, it could be either of them.
    •  If you prefer to have a room individually, you are expected to pay the single supplement.
    •  The prices do not apply to National Holidays (Spring Festival, Labour Day, National Day, Around 2008 the Olympic Game, and so on).
    • Reservation should be made at least 5 days before departure time.
