To ensure all our groups have more time on the wall and shorten the travel time on road, we will go by a new high way (saving about 1 hour one way, now it only takes about 1.5 hour by car from the city to Simatai Great Wall one way.).The tour cost was adjusted accordingly.

- Unlike most of our trips which are private tours, this trip is a competitively-priced “group” excursion, which leaves daily, every day, as long as there are 2 or more people ( but with a maximum of 6, so it does not become bogged down or unwieldy ) ! This tour could also be made private if requested.
TRIP OVERVIEW:
This will be a long day, but if you’re up to it, one of the best! It’s designed for the person who feels cooped up all day somewhere in Beijing, and who wants to get out and away, into the fresh air, the open spaces, the natural surroundings, and who wants to do some healthy exercise as well.
Because everyone may be at different fitness levels, we offer 3 levels of difficulty – choose your own level for the day! Note that it’s an open-jaw trip – we will not come back to our starting point.
If you want to see history, meet friends, get some exercise, and feel exhilarated at the end of the day, this is it!
DETAILED ITINERARY:
Our minivan will pick you up anywhere within the 3rd Ring Road in the early morning, and we will drive directly to Jinshanling
From here there are 3 levels of hikes offered:
- For the super hiker - hiking all the way from Jinshanling to Simatai, then climbing to the highest point in Simatai, and following the crest of the mountain, before descending to the village at the bottom of Simatai Great Wall (about 3-4hour, 15km)
- For the regular hiker - going from our starting point in Jinshanling to the bottom of the Simatai and then proceeding directly to the parking lot to meet our minibus.(about 3-4 hours, about 10km)
- For the leisurely and first-time hiker - starting from the bottom of Simatai Great Wall, hiking the Simatai part only and then walking back to the parking lot (about 2-3 hours)
Our bus will stop at Jinshanling to drop people off, then proceed directly to Simatai, where it will wait until the end of the day. Our experience has shown that most people select the “regular hiker” route. In the case where people split up, our CnAdventure guide will decide which group to accompany. All groups will meet in the parking lot at a pre-designated time, at the end of the day, whereupon the van will transport everyone back to the city.
The Jinshanling Great Wall is known for its well-maintained watch towers, quite close together. The Simatai Great Wall is spectacular, one of the most-challenging hiking sections, running right along the crest of the steep cliffs. When you have hiked the two of them, you will be hooked!
