TRIP OVERVIEW:
We will spend time in the morning leisurely hiking along the Huangyaguan Section of the Great Wall. This segment provides a good introduction to hiking on the Wall - it is not dangerous, and we will visit a special fortification, a labyrinth designed to trap invaders. After lunch, we will drive to the East Qing Tombs where we will spend an enjoyable afternoon exploring this vast Imperial City. Visiting these 2 impressive areas on the same day will be long-remembered! But it will be a full day - you will arrive back in Beijing around 7 pm…
This trip can be taken any time during the year, even winter, and always makes for a memorable day-trip.
DETAILED ITINERARY (L):

A CnAdventure guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in town at 07:00 am. The drive is about 3 hours, but on good roads. Our starting point is a small village near the Wall.
Hiking eastward along the Huangyaquan Great Wall is easy and enjoyable. After the first hour we will reach a high peak, overlooking the valley and also the Huangyaquan Fortress, far below. The fortress was carefully restored in the 1980’s. From this vantage point, we will be able to see its Baguan pattern, a specially-designed labyrinth designed to confuse and entrap the enemy. We will then walk down to the fortress for a fascinating visit inside.
After lunch near the fortress, we will drive to the East Qing Tombs where we will spend a good part of the afternoon (2-3 hours) visiting this vast area. Because of its distance from Beijing, this necropolis is less crowded than its more-famous predecessor, the Ming Tombs, but it far surpasses them in splendor and majesty. We will visit Yuling and Dingdongling, the best of all the tombs there.
After the visit we will meet our driver in the parking lot, who will transfer us safely back to Beijing, where we will arrive about 19:00pm.
