Join us for a two-day overnight excursion, hiking along two of the “wild” sections of the Great Wall, Although thisWe will hike along the original Great Wall, broken in places, beaten by the weather, not repaired by government funds, but still proud and strong! Enjoy the peace and solitude of the un-spoiled, quiet Wall, far away from the tourists, and hawkers of postcards and bottled water.. Stay in a local village, meet the local people. See the real China! We will start at the ancient Huanghuacheng section, and will later spend time along the beautiful Jiankou section, much-loved by photographers. Staying with a local family will give us a “human” aspect to our trip, an excursion that you will always remember for its magnificence.   
DAY-BY-DAY DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1 Beijing – Huanghuacheng – Jiankou (LD; 3 ½ - 4 hrs)
Your friendly and knowledgeable CnAdventure guide will meet you at your hotel. We will then drive directly to the Huanghuacheng section of the Great Wall by private van, where our 2-day adventure will begin. This section of the Great Wall is named for the sea of yellow wildflowers that bloom in the late spring and early summer, giving sudden exhilarating life to this aged portion of the Wall - “Huanghua” in Chinese means “yellow flower”.
The hike today is not too long, but it is very special – part of the Wall is underwater! In 1974, China built the Xishuiyu Reservoir, and when the water level rose, some low-lying sections of the Wall were submerged. Seen from the dam of the reservoir, the stately sunken wall is still visible under the water’s smooth surface.
We will not go swimming but rather will follow some of the Wall that meanders for 14 km over gently-undulating hills, with occasional steep parts. This portion of the Wall was built during the 1500’s, and we will examine some of the ancient structures (e.g. towers, gates) as we hike along.
At the end of our hike, we will drive to the Jiankou section of the Wall, where we will enjoy a comfortable night in the home of a local family (2 beds with private washroom).
Day 2 Jiankou - Mutianyu (BL; 4-5 hrs)
On today’s hike, we will visit the Jiankou section , one of the most-beautiful parts of the Wild Wall, and so you will want to take many pictures! Please note, however, many sections of this part of the Wall are quite rough and broken. Although we will have to be very careful walking on it, our pace will be leisurely. After a full morning, we will be ready to meet our courteous driver for lunch – we will drive to a restaurant near Mutianyu known for its delicious fish! We will drive back to Beijing in the afternoon, having-visited one of the more-beautiful sectors of the Great Wall, and with pictures to prove it!

The tour cost includes: - Local transportation - private vehicle with experienced driver will accompany us for the whole tour. While we are trekking, our vehicle will transfer our luggage to the appointed site or hostel and wait.
- Equipment: 2-way radios, first aid kit, tents and mats for sleeping bags as required.
- Leadership: Experienced English-speaking tour leader.
- Entrance fees: All first-entrance tickets to tourist spots mentioned in the itinerary.
- Accommodation: twin and tri-share clean hostels in the small counties or villages, or private home if mentioned in the itinerary
- Meals: All meals as indicated in the itinerary, with some simple picnic lunches while trekking on the Wall.
- Travel agency liability insurance.
The tour cost does not include: - Personal gear required: e.g. hiking boots or other good footwear, raincoat, cap, camera, sun-cream, sun-glasses, pocket knife, day-pack, etc

- Tourist accident insurance. NB -you are strongly suggested to possess health and accident insurance before you start on the trek.
