We specialize in Great Wall hiking. We love doing these trips as much as our customers love taking them! It is our heritage and we are proud to share it! However, we bypass the “tourist” sections, and put our effort into trekking along sections of the “wild” wall, those portions steeped in history, stretches which are of special architectural and/or historical interest, and of course spending time on those sections which are most stunningly-beautiful and photogenic. Our tours range from one-day visits to certain specially-chosen areas all the way to a complete 24-day end-to-end trek, from Jiayuguan in the west to Sanhaiguan in the east, accompanied by one or more support vehicles. Unlike most of our trips which are private tours, this trip is a competitively-priced “group” excursion, which leaves daily, every day, as long as there are 2 or more people ( but with a maximum of 6, so it does not become bogged down or unwieldy ) ! This is one of our families’ favorites! The hike transverses what residents call “the Wild Wall” located in Shengtangyu– not only is the hike itself picturesque, but it combines the old with the new! Hikers start with a leisurely walk round a quiet village in a picturesque valley, and hike on an unrestored part of the wall, which is not generally known by tourists, to the restored section at Mutianyu.. The hike will end with a slide down Mutianyu Great Wall on the toboggan.

The Great Wall was built to protect China from attacks from the north, but it was here, at the Gubeikou Pass, in 1541, that the Mongols, under the leadership of Altan Khan broke through, and set the suburbs of Beijing on fire. Then, inexplicably, he suddenly took his armies north again, sparing Beijing. If the weather is clear, we will be able to see the Wangjing Tower in the Simatai Section, many kilometers away. Today’s hike will take us to a military area along the Wall, which we must bypass.
