This is an abbreviated version of our more-comprehensive 12-day hike. It is carefully designed for the Great Wall enthusiast who would like to experience the best parts of the eastern Wall, but who has only limited time. We start on the ocean, at Dragon’s Head, and hike eastward to Dongjiakou, where descendants of the original builders still proudly maintain “their” section of the wall. A really unique experience!  

The Great Wall was built to protect China from attacks from the north, but it was here, at the Gubeikou Pass, in 1541, that the Mongols, under the leadership of Altan Khan broke through, and set the suburbs of Beijing on fire. Then, inexplicably, he suddenly took his armies north again, sparing Beijing. If the weather is clear, we will be able to see the Wangjing Tower in the Simatai Section, many kilometers away. Today’s hike will take us to a military area along the Wall, which we must bypass. We will take a pleasant diversion through a friendly village, and then hike directly to the Jinshanling section of the Wall.  

This is our most-popular 2-day excursion! Day 1 is fairly-easy hiking, getting our “hiking legs” limbered up. We will follow the Great Wall through the countryside, where we will have the chance to see villagers going about their day-to-day tasks. Day 2 will be more ambitious - we will hike two great sections: Jinshanling section of the Great Wall and Wofushan Section of the Great Wall.

This is one of our families’ favorites! The hike transverses what residents call “the Wild Wall” located in Shengtangyu– not only is the hike itself picturesque, but it combines the old with the new! Hikers start with a leisurely walk round a quiet village in a picturesque valley, and hike on an unrestored part of the wall, which is not generally known by tourists, to the restored section at Mutianyu.. The hike will end with a slide down Mutianyu Great Wall on the toboggan.

Most people imagine the Great Wall to be thousands of kilometers of solid stone. Not true! Along its length there are “gates” through which the local people passed in order to visit (and live in) territories to the north of the Wall, and to tend to their flocks. Of course these breaches were heavily-fortified, to prevent invasions from the Northern tribes.  

This is a good trip for children! The vast area known as the East Qing tombs will let them run, and the tombs themselves will give them an appreciation of Chinese history. The Huangyaguan Section is a good introduction to hiking on the Great Wall. It is not dangerous, and features some interesting structures, such as watchtowers, parapets, and fire-pits! One of China's four most famous "Buddhist Grottoes", Yungang Buddhist Grottoes are 16 kilometers west of Datong. 53 caves are cut into the southern cliffs of Wuzhou Hill which contain over 50000 magnificently carved Buddist statues. Hanging Temple is a wooden construction supported by a few wooden posts, leaning over the sheer cliffs above Golden Dragon Canyon. The Hanging Temple dates back to the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534 AD). Its halls and pavilions are connected by verandas, bridges and boardwalks.

Chengde is approx. 250 km northeast of Beijing. Its moderate climate offered a pleasant change from the imperial capital's summer heat. In 1703, a vacation palace was built in this scenic mountain area. Qing Emperor Kangxi called it the Imperial Summer Resort, or Escaping-the-heat Mountain Villa. On this sightseeing tour you will visit: Putuozongsheng Temple, a replica of Potala Palace in Lhasa, was built by Emperor Qianlong in 1790. Qianlong extended the idea started by his grandfather, Emperor Kangxi, to show repect to minority envoys by building replicas of minority architecture. Xumifushou Temple, a replica of Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse, was built in honour of the sixth Panchen Lama for his visit to the Qing emperor in 1781. K2 peak, locally known by the name of "Chogo Ri" which means "The Great Mountain", 8,611m, is the 2nd highest mountain in the world. K2 is taken from the first letter of Karakorum, and the number indicates that it was the second peak in the range to be measured. K2 is placed on the Pakistan - China border in the mighty Karakoram range. With no simple routes, K2 is known as the finest and most dangerous mountain in the world. This is because of the massiveness in the size of this mountain and the numerous unsuccessful attempts made on it by various expeditions, which include mostly American expeditions(K2 Expeditions & Attempts list is available at the end of the page) . K2 was firstly climbed on July 31st, 1954 by Italian climbers team lead by Ardito Desio and accompanying him were Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni. It was first reached from north side from China in 1982 by Japanese, a feat that has rarely been repeated.

Muztagh Ata is not just a name but actually has a meaning: "Father of all Icepeaks". Sounds impressive... However the story goes that the explorer who mapped the area for the first time asked a boy, what the name of the mountain was and the boy answered, "Muztagh, Ata", meaning "Icepeak, father" (father being used out of respect for the elderly stranger). Another example that a comma can make a big difference.

Each August, over 10,000 people will get together in Nakchu grassland to celebrate their Horse-racing Festival, when they will run their horses, eat, drink and enjoy themselves during the annual horse festival holiday. Then we will trek around the Largest saltwater lake Namtso-Chukmo, one of the most sacred lake in Tibet. Lake Namtso-Chukmo is also home to migratory birds between April and November; if we are lucky, we may be able to see the rare black-necked crane.

Departs from Sanya, the most beautiful tropical city of Hainan province, cycle north to the central Hainan island to experience the authentic living style of local people. Besides, there are plenty of rare flora and fauna to explore when breaking into the amazing rain forest. After a day expedition in Wuzhi Moutain, we will cycle to a glazing land to see traditional Hainan farm and camping in their places, taste local delicacy. The next day, ride downhill to encounter the beach again and ferry to Fenjiezhou Island to participant in water activities by yourselves and also feel free to enjoy hot spring around Sanya. 

Lugu Lake is located in northwest part of Yunnan province, it covers 58 square kms, the water is very clear. The unique matriarchal Mosuo people live by the lake, which earned this area another name: the Mysterious Queendom. Yading is located in southwest corner of Sichuan province, it is well-known for the 3 holy peaks named by the 5th Dalai Lama, Shiannairi Peak(6032 m high), Xianuoduoji Peak(5898 m high), Yangmaiyong Peak(5898 m high). Every year, there are many people trek around the 3 holy peaks for increasing their merits and virtues.  

Tiger Leaping Gorge,tucked between the Yulong Snow Mountain and the Haba Mountains, offers one of the most attractive trekking in Southwest China. A thunderous roar of the gushing river welcomes you as you approach the 16-kilometer gorge, which runs along the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Starting from Lijiang, a delightful Naxi town located near the Tibetan border, we will enter the spectacular gorge via roads set among terraced hills. From here you will walk along enchanting - and at times hair raising - paths overlooking a fall of 800 meters (689 ft) and a series of more than twenty rapids.  

The Stone town is located about 110 km north of Lijiang in Yunnan province. It comprises of more than one hundred families on the top of a gigantic rock. This town was built in the late 13th century (Yuan Dynasty). In the Naxi tongue, it is called "La Bai Lu Pan Wu". La Bai was the first local Naxi leader, who lives here. Lu Pan Wu means white stone village. This town has such a long history due to it's unique geographic location. Below this stone town and towards the eastern side, lies the Golden Sand River. The other three sides are steep cliffs. The top of the cliff becomes a guarding post for the town.In this town, you may feel amazed at the sight of many household equipments which were make of stone. In most of the houses, their household items e.g. table, bed, water tank, fire stove are all carved out of big stones. You may wonder where do they do their farming of crops. They do their planting just below this uniquely perched village. 

The best season for visiting Mt.Kawagebo(6,740m/22,107ft) is in the fall time and it must be clear day. The snow-capped Mountains, whose every peak is the subject of an enchanting tale. The glacier at the foot of the peak extends 11,000 feet downward to a surprisingly low level, seeming to plunge into the Lancang (Mekong ) River. Tucked away at the foot of Mt. Kawagebo, one of Tibet's most sacred mountains, is the stunningly beautiful and isolated village of Yubeng. With the exception of the occasional mountain climbing expedition and Buddhists on a pilgrimage to the mountain and sacred waterfall a half-day's walk away, Yubeng is rarely visited by outsiders. The villagers' timeless way of life - herding yak, plowing the fields and fetching water from the nearby glacier stream - has changed little over the centuries. This trip will start from Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, and take us to the northwestern part of the province on the Tibetan Plateau. We will follow the same trail that pilgrims take on their way to Mt. Kawagebo. 

Drive 4wd jeep all the way into the endless grassland or you could even drive part of the way yourself into the wilderness of northern Inner Mongolia pasture.There are steppe valleys, meadows along the Hulunber River, larch forests with patches of birch.

Begin from Chengdu, and continue overland through Ganzi prefecture into the Tibetan Autonomous Region.

Yuanyang is renowned for its rice terraces, sculpted by bare hands by the Hani people one thousand years ago, transforming a barren valley into a humid Eden; perfect for rice crops. The 1000m of mountain slopes of terraces is still in use today, claiming to be the world's most spectacular and extensive terraces. It is a self sustaining ecosystem and a perfect example of a symbiosis with nature.  

The Water-Splashing Festival, New Year's Day by Dai calendar, will be celebrated in the Jinghong City Proper between April 12 and 18. The grandest festival of the Dai is usually held along with activities such as dragon-boat racing, sending off skyrockets, and throwing love pouches. It is believed that everyone being splashed at will have good luck.Besides,we will trek and bike in tropical forests of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Region,.It is warm and green all year round and is most beautiful when you reach the rarely visited villages on our trekking routes. The locals still maintain a slash and burn farming lifestyle. The richer villagers live in wooden huts with tiled roof, while the poorer ones in bamboo huts with thatched roofs. This trip offers you a unique opportunity into the tropical part of Yunnan, highlighting the delights of country life of the ethnic minorities.

Huangshan is a good choice for hiking lover. There is very good 2-day hiking route on Mt. Huangshan. The best season for hiking is spring & Autumn. Chengde is approx. 250 km northeast of Beijing. Its moderate climate offered a pleasant change from the imperial capital's summer heat. In 1703, a vacation palace was built in this scenic mountain area. Qing Emperor Kangxi called it the Imperial Summer Resort, or Escaping-the-heat Mountain Villa. On this sightseeing tour you will visit: Putuozongsheng Temple, a replica of Potala Palace in Lhasa, was built by Emperor Qianlong in 1790. Qianlong extended the idea started by his grandfather, Emperor Kangxi, to show repect to minority envoys by building replicas of minority architecture. Xumifushou Temple, a replica of Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse, was built in honour of the sixth Panchen Lama for his visit to the Qing emperor in 1781.
